The center, located on a cliff in the heritage area of Jabal Al Lweibdeh, was designed to consist of a number of spaces that promote artistic production and cultural exchange including workshops, art residences, a gallery, and art café. With one façade to the small main street and another overlooking Amman’s old city center, the skeleton of the building was clad with perforated metal inspired by the pattern of the traditional cement block used in abundance in the heritage buildings of the area, with varying degrees of openness to orient the building towards the view and provide privacy where needed. The architecture speaks to the contemporary art and creative scene in a language of cultural awareness.
